BillSplit Backups

Encrypted recovery copies for the operator’s BillSplit installation.

BillSplit Backups is a personal backup tool operated by Ashok Muppavarapu. It uses Rclone on the Oracle-hosted BillSplit server to create consistent SQLite snapshots and upload encrypted copies to a dedicated folder in the operator’s Google Drive.

What it accesses

Google Drive authorization uses the drive.file scope: the tool reads and manages files and folders created through its Google application. It is not a general browser for the account’s existing Drive files.

How recovery works

The job runs every six hours, encrypts files before uploading, then downloads and decrypts the backup for checksum, database and isolated application-startup checks. Passwords needed for decryption are kept by the operator outside the server.

The snapshot includes BillSplit records and uploaded receipts and bill files. These are private backups; this website does not expose their contents or offer public account connection.
